Moody -florals

January is in full swing and that can only mean one thing – a whole new wedding year and a whole bunch of new wedding trends for 2018! Whether you follow trends or not, there’s no denying it’s good to get some little hints and tips for your special day. Like we’ve said many times before when it comes to planning it can all seem like a bit of a minefield at times so today we’re here to share some of the key wedding trends to look for in 2018 as chosen by the experts.

Moody Florals

Last year saw a lot of greenery in floral displays which will carry on into this year only things are set to be a lot moodier in tone. Think peaches and yellows mixed with some greenery and violet tones. The hue to watch this year is purple. It’s going to be all about the drama!

Accents of Black

Some of you might wince at the thought of black accents on a wedding dress but if you don’t believe us, check out some of Vera Wang and Marchesa’s Spring 2018 collection. We’re not talking about all black wedding dresses but black accents such as lace details; cuffs; waist etc. It’s all adding to that moody vibe we mentioned above.

Copper and Marble Details

Copper and rose gold tones were big last year but these are thought to be even bigger for 2018 as is marble aspects. Think candelabras, tea light holders and vases. You can also easily incorporate more industrial type copper in the form of cups, cutlery, chairs and even ribbon to bring more of an industrial feel to your wedding. This will look great for every season but particularly Autumnal weddings.

Small Wedding Parties

In recent years it’s said that huge bridal parties have been popular but for 2018 it’s predicted that brides will choose smaller bridal parties made up of just one maid of honour or just one or two bridesmaids.

High Street Bridal Fashion

There’s no denying that more and more high street stores are bringing out their own lines of bridal fashion which is actually pretty refreshing. This is very welcomed by relaxed brides and those who are on a budget. This year also sees a lot more diversity in bridal fashion with touches of black as mentioned above, statement cuffs, thigh high splits and two-piece dresses. Statement jewellery will also be big this year, particularly on the ears - I’m looking at you tassel earrings.

Wedding Backdrops

A wedding backdrop that’s seen to frame the wedding venue rather than surround it is another big thing in 2018. Think large floral frame displays for use in the venue grounds for photo shoots which can then be taken indoors and double up as an Instagram prop. I don’t even think we need to explain why this has made it onto our list!

Velvet was once seen as a fabric that could only be brought out during Winter party season. However, it is set to be another huge trend in 2018 and not just for the Winter months. Think dark greens and reds draped over tables and tailored groomsmen suits in Autumn/Winter; with pretty dusky pink napkins and ribbon accents during Spring/Summer.

With these trends there really is something for everyone. However, just remember weddings are down to personal taste. We’re fully on board with you customising your own without a single trend in sight. That said though we hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post and it’s given you a little bit of inspiration for your upcoming wedding!
